Shows doctors how their patients see.
Carrot invented VR visual testing and made it the way testing gets done in 2,500+ clinics: faster for staff and more comfortable for patients.
Carrot, eye care's most widely used VR testing platform, has agreed to acquire GreenMan InSightVR, the surgeon-built simulation that lets cataract patients experience their lens options before they choose. IOL simulation is coming soon to the Carrot Platform.

Carrot asked whether the visual field test, unchanged for 40 years, was really the best eye care could do. GreenMan's surgeon founders asked why anyone should choose how they'll see for the rest of their life without experiencing it first. Soon, both answers will live on the Carrot Platform.

InSightVR puts cataract patients inside everyday scenes so they can compare how each lens option could change their vision.
Carrot's VR testing helps find and track vision loss with a faster, more comfortable exam.
CarrotCarrot already serves the optometrists who first find a cataract and the surgeons who treat it.

InSightVR, coming soon to the Carrot PlatformWork smarter. Diagnose faster. Care better.
The best decisions in eye care are the ones patients can see for themselves. That idea is the Carrot Platform.
We built InSightVR for our own patients, and we held it to one standard: it could never overpromise an outcome.
When patients can see the tradeoffs for themselves, the decision becomes theirs.
With Carrot, InSightVR will get in front of more surgeons and more patients than we could ever reach alone.
Most cataract patients choose the lens they'll see through for life from a conversation and a brochure. InSightVR uses each patient's own biometry to put them inside everyday scenes, from reading to night driving, so they can compare how each lens type could change their vision.
Built by cataract surgeons Michael Greenwood, MD, and Brandon Baartman, MD, of Vance Thompson Vision.
Every lens comes with tradeoffs, from glasses for reading to halos at night. Tap a lens to explore the idea.
A cataract clouds the eye's natural lens. Surgery replaces it with an artificial lens, and choosing that lens is a decision patients live with for life.
An illustration of general lens tradeoffs, not a simulation. InSightVR uses each patient's own biometry. Results vary from patient to patient.
InSightVR starts with the patient's own biometry.
Patients step into everyday scenes, from reading a menu to driving at night.
They see how each lens type could change their vision, then choose with their surgeon.
In a 2026 peer-reviewed study of 609 patients, those who used InSightVR were twice as likely to choose an advanced-technology lens.
In 2018, Carrot put the visual field test inside a VR headset and changed a 40-year-old exam for good. Today, Carrot (formerly Virtual Field) is the most widely used VR testing and diagnostic platform in eye care.
Carrot pulls your daily worklist automatically, pre-loading every patient's name and data.
Patients put on one portable headset in any room, in the language they're most comfortable with. No dark room needed.
Results flow back to your EMR with objective, AI/ML-assisted Severity Index staging and progression trendlines.
Threshold, screener, kinetic and full-field testing, independently validated.
Objective pupil testing on the same headset.
Eye movement testing without a separate device.
More of the functional vision exam, in one place.
Objective, AI/ML-assisted visual field staging: Normal, Mild, Moderate or Advanced.
Protocol templates and automation that give technicians time back on every exam.
Bidirectional DICOM and EMR/EHR integration, with reports and progression trendlines.
Practice-wide analytics on testing volume and performance.
Patients take exams in the language they're most comfortable with.
Carrot plans are month-to-month or annual, so you're never locked in.

An immersive simulation that uses each patient's own biometry to show, in everyday scenes, what their vision could look like after cataract surgery with monofocal, toric, multifocal, EDOF or adjustable lenses. It takes a few minutes during the cataract evaluation. It doesn't guarantee results, which vary from patient to patient.
It runs during the cataract evaluation, before the lens conversation. A technician or counselor can run it, and the InSightVR implementation team trains your staff.
Yes. It's available today as InSightVR. Your Carrot rep can walk you through next steps and timing, or you can schedule a call.
Today, IOL simulation runs on its own headset. We're excited to bring visual diagnostic testing and IOL simulation together on the Carrot Platform, and we'll share details when they're ready.
Pricing is customized for each clinic. We'd be happy to schedule a call to review your clinic's needs and options.
Many of the patients you care for will face a cataract lens decision. IOL simulation helps them arrive at that decision clearer and more confident, which supports the surgeons you refer to and co-manage with. Nothing about your Carrot account or service changes.
No. It isn't tied to any one lens manufacturer, and it covers monofocal, toric, multifocal, EDOF and adjustable lenses.
No. InSightVR is fully supported, and Carrot is investing in it.
There are no changes to pricing or service agreements at this time. If anything ever changes, you'll hear it from us first and well in advance.
No. Same team, same implementation managers, same support line.
No. Keep using your current setup, just as you do now. If that ever changes, you'll hear it from us first and well in advance.
Nothing is changing today. If that ever changes, you'll hear it from us first.
Yes. Dr. Greenwood and Dr. Baartman remain actively involved.

In a 2026 peer-reviewed study of 609 patients published in Patient Preference and Adherence, 57.1% of InSightVR patients chose an advanced-technology lens, compared with 28.4% with standard counseling. After surgery, 90% of surveyed patients who chose those lenses said their vision was similar to the simulation. Individual results vary. Read the study.
