Steven I. Rosenfeld, MD, FACS, is a fellowship trained Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery expert who lectures nationally on these topics and the many risk management issues confronting ophthalmic surgeons today. He has co-authored dozens of teaching modules, textbook chapters, and two different Sections of the BCSC teaching manuals.

Dr. Rosenfeld is the President of the Delray Eye Associates, PA, a nine person ophthalmology practice in Delray Beach, Florida, with fellowship trained specialists in all the subspecialties of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Rosenfeld graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Johns Hopkins University, and AOA from the Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Barnes/Jewish Hospital at Washington University in St. Louis, and a Heed Foundation fellowship in Cornea & External Disease at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. He is a Voluntary Professor of Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Rosenfeld is an Associate Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology, and Vice Chair of OMIC and Chair of their Claims Committee.

Dr. Rosenfeld is the recipient of many awards including the AAO Achievement Award, the AAO Senior Achievement Award, the AAO Secretariat Award, Castle Connolly Best Doctor’s Award, Florida Super Doctors, Best Doctors in Boca Raton, and Premier Surgeon 300 Award.

He has published dozens of journal articles and textbook chapters on topics including the complications of cataract surgery, complications of corneal transplant surgery, diagnosing corneal infections, and surgical techniques and complications of PRK and LASIK surgery. Dr. Rosenfeld has been actively involved in the AAO serving as Chair of the BCSC Section on Lens and Cataract Surgery, BCSC Section on Refractive Surgery, Focal Points Refractive Surgery section, Editorial Review Board of EyeNet, and regularly participates in lectures and symposia for the AAO, ASCRS, and the Florida Society of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Steven Rosenfeld is an advisor for Blue Sea Capital (a private equity firm), InFocus Capital Partners (a venture capital company), and IACTA Pharmaceuticals. He is also the Chair of Ophthalmology for Modernizing Medicine, a prominent EMR company.

Ted Leng, MD, MS

Theodore Leng, MD, MS is an internationally recognized specialist in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery and has been named one of the top 150 innovators in the field of retina. He serves as the Director of Clinical and Translational Research at the Byers Eye Institute at the Stanford University School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology in Palo Alto, CA, where he oversees more than 50 research programs. Dr. Leng attended the Stanford University School of Medicine for his MD and completed his ophthalmology residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL. After a postdoctoral and clinical fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at Stanford, Dr. Leng joined the faculty in the Department of Ophthalmology at Stanford and is an Associate Professor. He has been named one of “America’s Top Ophthalmologists” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America and is a Castle Connolly “Top Doctor.” Dr. Leng has published over 145 peer-reviewed manuscripts and serves as the Associate Editor for Ophthalmic Surgery Lasers and Imaging Retina. His current research interests include computer-aided and machine learning analysis of retinal images, cell-based therapies, clinical trials, multimodal imaging and real-world Evidence.

Dr. Leng is a founding member of the Collaborative Community on Ophthalmic Imaging and serves on the Horizontal Community on Foundational Principles of Ophthalmic Imaging and Algorithmic Interpretation, which has the goal of speeding the regulatory pathways for innovation in imaging-based systems, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Intelligence, and Autonomous Intelligence systems, as well Software as a Medical Device (SaMD). Dr. Leng serves Stanford Health Care as the Medical Informatics Director for Ambulatory Specialties, helping to integrate technology solutions to advance clinical care.

Maria Sampalis, OD

Dr. Maria Sampalis is a visionary healthcare professional who seamlessly blends her expertise in Optometry with a passion for innovation. With a dynamic career marked by achievements in patient care, entrepreneurship, and leadership. 

Dr. Sampalis embarked on her journey in the optometry field with a determination to make a lasting impact. She completed her OD degree from NECO. She is a consultant for various companies, a speaker, an author and  multi location practice owner in RI.  DDr Sampalis is the founder of Corporate Optometry, her network reaches 68k eye care professionals world wide.

Aaron Lee, MD

Aaron Y. Lee MD MSCI is an associate professor and vitreoretinal surgeon at University of Washington, Department of Ophthalmology, and the recent recipient of the C. Dan and Irene Hunter Endowed Professorship. He completed his undergraduate at Harvard University and his medical training at Washington University in St Louis. He chairs the American Academy of Ophthalmology Information Technology Steering Committee. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for both Translational Vision Science and Technology and Ophthalmology Science, and on the Editorial Board for the American Journal of Ophthalmology and Nature Scientific Reports. He has published over 175 peer-reviewed manuscripts and is known as a leader in the field of artificial intelligence and ophthalmology. Aaron Lee’ s research is focused on the translation of novel computation techniques in machine learning to uncover new disease associations and mechanisms from routine clinical data including electronic health records and imaging.

Mohammad Rafieetary, OD

Dr. Mohammad Rafieetary is a highly regarded optometric physician at the Charles Retina Institute and an adjunct faculty at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. His clinical practice is primarily in diagnosing and managing posterior segment disease. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO), the immediate past Chair of the Retina Special Interest Group of the AAO, and the president and fellow of the Optometric Retina Society (ORS). He is board certified by the American Board of Optometry (ABO) and serves on the Board of Directors of ABO. He has received numerous awards including Tennessee Optometrist of the Year and the American Diabetes Association’s National Achievement of Distinction. Dr. Rafieetary has several professional publications and lectures frequently on topics relating to diagnosis and management of posterior Segment diseases.

Andrew Chen, MD

Andrew Chen, MD is an assistant professor at University of Washington, Department of Ophthalmology. He earned his bachelor’s degree in bioengineering and his medical degree from the University of California Los Angeles. He completed ophthalmology residency at the Flaum Eye Institute at the University of Rochester and glaucoma fellowship at the Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. Dr. Chen’s clinical interests include the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, cataract, and anterior segment disorders. His research interests include the structure-function relationship of glaucoma, visual fields, and imaging of the optic nerve.

Andrew S. Morgenstern, OD, FAAO, FNAP

Dr. Morgenstern is a graduate of Boston University (B.S.) and Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry (O.D., Clinical Honors). He completed his optometric training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Morgenstern is a clinician at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda Maryland with contract duties researching acute eye injury, blast eye injury and vision dysfunction associated with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Dr. Morgenstern is also the Director of the American Optometric Association (AOA) Clinical Resources Group charged with developing all of the AOA Evidence Based Clinical Practice Guidelines in compliance with the US Department of Health and Human Services, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality

Additionally, he holds the faculty rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Department of Defense Uniformed Services University School of Medicine at Walter Reed. Prior to his current roles, Dr. Morgenstern was the Mid-Atlantic/Southeast US Clinical Director supervising over 80 Optometrists and Ophthalmologists. Education Director for TLC Laser Eye Centers and Principal Investigator for CXL-USA/CXL-O Corneal Cross-Linking clinical trials/studies.

Dr. Morgenstern has published numerous medical journal articles, book chapters and research posters. He has lectured to, and educated thousands of eye doctors around the globe.
